Mean Girls

We all know them, don’t we?
Maybe they aren’t like the plastics,
Openly cruel is a lost trend,
Rising high is that cruelty
Hidden behind those innocent eyes

Now, I, for one,
Don’t understand why anyone
Would feel jealousy so intense,
That they take away other’s happiness

Or maybe, they’re just like you,
Hiding behind masks of false truth,
Maybe, they lost faith in the world
In years of sadness, bitter they turned

It doesn’t justify their actions,
Maybe they didn’t get what they wanted,
But who are they to mold you for their satisfaction?
And now this one incident will leave you haunted

You might never know the ‘could be’,
You could take the road less travelled by
A worldly accepted road or an abandoned debris
We all know which one you’ll ride.

It’s the way of humans,
A disease spreading through hatred,
When one wronged, turns to the other side,
Till all Earth is lost in battle fights.

  1. Beautifully penned, Sep!!
There was more to the mean girl’s. I’m sure they were complex and 3D and flawed, with their own complicated life stories interwoven with pain like everyone else. They just hide it cause they don’t wanna seem weak.

    1. Thank you!! I started writing this as a diss track for a mean girl I had met, but then something took over me and I wrote this instead. I’m glad it turned out this way. Thanks for this!
