Wrap Ups

2021 | The blew my mind chapter.

*that’s a taylor swift pun in the sentence hehe*

It’s going to be 2022 soon.

I don’t know how to feel about this. 2021 was a huge year for me, and it passed in the blink of an eye. I had so many firsts this year *chuckles*. But before we get all nostalgic. LET’S WRAP IT UP PEOPLE!

So basically this post, I got the idea from the great Ashmita. I read her post and I was like ‘Wow I should totally do something like that and stop being an unproductive idiot’. So here we are. This is basically a favourites lists of everything I can think about.

I'll be reading from dusk till dawn

fantasy books

So now that I think of it, I haven’t reaaaallyyyyy read much fantasy. Or maybe I have and I forgot. Since this is about my F A V O R I T E S, I shall present my top three fantasy book this year.

1-Six of Crows by Leigh Baedugo– This was a recent read and I’m so glad Rayndrop and Miss Gray recommended this to me. NOTE- THIS BOOK IS NOT MEANT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART. Side effects include – crying over the twist, peeling off your nail paint in frustration over the Kaz-Inej romance, pondering over the where’s my f-ing teenage dream vibe from Kaz, why am I surrounded by a bunch of lunatics pov we all get from the saint but not the saint Matthias, FOOD, I NEED FOOD, also I’m a brutally nice and mean badass at the same time from Nina the extraordinaire, and the why did I get caught up in this but I love it so much and I am so adorable vibez from Wylan and ofc, I am Inej and you’re just a pathetic little reader who wishes to be me and will never achieve it, but I’m too amazing to say that to your pathetic face by our Inej.

Hehe. Might have gone a litttttleee overboard?

2- Sisters of Sword and Song by Rebecca Ross- Do I even need to say this? I love anything Rebecca writes. Not only because it’s poetry, but written but also because the story, the characters, they’re all developed and thought up so well. Her books have you begging, screaming, refusing to come out of your room until she announces new projects. You will fall in love with the two person pov in this book. About how two sisters, discover themselves, discover each other. Strong sense of what is morally right and what is actually right, family bonding and sisterhood (incase you’re incapable of reading the title) Just. Please. Do yourself a favor and read it.

3- Under the Milky Way by Vanessa Barneveld- Ahh. My very first (and only) arc. Hehe, so I kidnof have a soft spot for this book. But really it’s a nice one. I never knew I was into Edward Cullen-ish but much better aliens, but I am. Fantasy and mystery is the best combination ever. And don’t even get me started on the plot of this book. AMAZING IT IS.

mystery books

so, ya mystery is my most favorite genre in the whole wide universe. It was only fair I chose 4 books. I’ll keep this short.

The Dead List by Jennifer L. Armentrout- Me being me, I thought this was like any other ya mystery, about some weird kindof teen-ishy fetish. So I decided to read it when I was home alone and it was N I G H T. And then the creepy stuff happened. I certainly did not forget I was weak hearted. And I certainly didn’t stop reading even though I knew I wouldn’t stop thinking about this book. It will make you cry, it will make you scream it will make you curse, it will make you want to read and read and do nothing else. It will destroy you, and you'd still love it. I was OBSESSED with this story. I know if I go for a re-read, it will once again creep me out and like the masochist I am, I’ll love it.

Little White Lies by Jennifer Lynn Barnes- Another unexpected favorite. It’s high class society politics and I adored it. I’ve talked about this book a lot in my blog and I’m going to do it again. I stayed up half the night reading this one. IT'S SUCH A CHAOTIC MESS AND I AM SO HERE FOR IT. Jennifer Lynn Barnes took a fairytale society and turned it into Riverdale. I love the characters. I love the connections. I love the secrets they ALL have. And I love the friendship between the girls. What started as one anomaly, pulled the whole society out. This book proves, all that you see, isn't all that you should believe.

They wish they were us by Jessica Goodman- The irony between the title and the book is SO FREAKING ADMIRABLE. I love the way the story was spun. Give me elite schools, give me goody two shoes who aren’t what they seem. Give me secrets societies. And I’m dead. This book keeps you on your literal toenails and the end is a MASTERPIECE.

The Ivies by Alexa Donne – In short, this is very much like the aforementioned book. Still, both are equally close to my soul. There’s just something about elite schools I like. The schemes they do in this book are so elaborate and the irony at the end had me shivering. This book tests morals, justice and makes you question, is too much of ambition a threat?

rom - coms

The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood- Now here is a book everyone has been reading and loving in 2021. And I love this too. I’ve talked about it in my blog earlier (probably in some recent wrap up) and Adam and Oliver are officially one of my top 5 fictional couples. Side effects of reading this book include- nail biting, screaming at Oliver, screaming at Adam, screaming at Tom, basically screaming a lot, crying at 1 am in the night because oh my god they’re so cute, texting your boyfriend passages from the book because oh my Adam is so romantic, laughing like a maniac in public because the sunblock thing happened, recommending it to every poor soul that crosses your path for the next month or so. It's not overhyped people. It deserves all the hype it got.

XOXO by Axie Oh- I’ve never been one for the k-dramas or k-pop or that sort. When I saw this book, I fell in love with the cover. And I’m so glad I read it. It’s a perfect blend of ‘why am I not the protagonist’, ‘their family is so cute’, ‘I RELATE’ and ‘why are these fictional guys fictional’. Had me gushing and awwing at every page. And I don’t even cry during sad movies, so that’s a bucketload of emotion from me. GO FAMILY SUPPORT IN THE BOOK. Also go diversity! This book was a breath of fresh air from our regular characters, who are almost all the same.

Better than the movies by Lynn Painter- A cutesy ya romance that I have no idea why I like so much. I love the way the story is built. It’s the trope where the guy helping you to get the guy becomes your guy. Got that? No? Read more contemporary books : ) .

p r e v i o u s l y on l a p t o p

First Romance– Thanks a ton to Pan for this cutesy, adorable, took my heart and made it all lovey dovey C- drama. Started my rendezvous with drama with this one. Can’t wait to watch more!! Oh and did I mention the main guy plays piano?

Dash & Lily's book of dares– Watched it with Mr Editor and my bff for the second time. Knew what was going to happen but still ‘OH-ed‘AHH-ed’ and ‘OH NO-ed’. Definitely recommended. Definitely one of my days leading up to Christmas traditional watches.

Riverdale Unlike most people, I actually loved this show. Archie, Veronica, Betty, Polly, the Farm gave me the creeps and I stopped in season 3. But I’m looking forward to picking it back up in the new year.

Just like we always sung about

look at this super cool thing

Y'all know my obsession with TS and Olivia. Talking about Shawn's self titled album, I heard it once and now it's my go to album for maths homework (yes I listen to music when I study, deal with it). Rare is basically all of the feelings I never had described to me as if yes I've had them. I know at this point this is basically gibberish but you clicked on this post. Your fault.

And here we are at the end of this post. 2021 was much much better than I expected. I found so many people this year that I love, respect and adore. People who’ve been through thick and thin with me. In terms of growing myself, I know I’ve grown. I’ve come to understand a lot of things. And hey! It’s a new year! BIRTHDAY AGAIN IN OCTOOBERRR.

Ok. this was a bad ending note.

I loved 2021, I really did. I changed a lot as a person and in the last few days I had an epiphany. This year, I lived for myself and no matter however much people tell me it’s bad, I enjoyed it. Hopefully, I’ll be an even better version of me next year. It really is the last day of 2021 today. DAMN.

yikes. go celebrate people. And if you’re one of those people who sleep on 31st at 9pm and wake up on 1st Jan at 10 AM, and then say ‘I slept for a year’, we hear that joke every year. You need to stop. NOW.

Happy 2022 in advance people. I’m probably having a post up on Monday and hopefully, we;ll ba back on schedule from next week.

BYE!!! See you all NEXT YEAR!

(I apologise. Had to take part in the new year dad jokes)

If you read all that, WOW.
