bookish stuff but not reviews

Reacting to reviews I wrote in middle school.

Hey guys!

I’m…..facing a ….blogger’s slump. Something that’s never happened to me before.

So today, I’ll be going through my page on my library’s page and finding out books I read when I was younger. Well, in 3rd-6th grade.

We had this beautiful library, that was literally my favourite place. Our librarians were wonderful! Such a cosy and nice environment. I used to review books on the website, just because, well, I wanted people to know my opinions on books. I do think that was kindof when I started loving talking about books. So say hello to the Grade 5 Sep!

I’ll just be showing you some books I reviewed. I reviewed like 104 books, sooo, can’t show you all of them can I?

I’m soooo nervous, but let’s get started.

#1 High Time For Heroes- Mary Pope Osborne

There was this time in 2015, I was OBSESSED with the magic tree house. I had their spot on the shelf memorised and I would go check that spot every week and then grab whatever I found. I still think I haven’t read the whole lot, they’re a lot of books in this series. Neither did I read them in order. I loved all the books so much. The whole concept is fabulous. Mary Pope Osborne was a goddess for me, and I hope she is for many other young leaders.

#2 Charlie and the Chocolate Factory- Roald Dahl

Here comes a classic. I still love this book, and one of my literally dreams is to own a first edition of this book. To be very honest, I’m proud of this review. It makes you want to read the book. Yes, I know it sounds like the synopsis thing, BUT, it’s good by 10 year old standards.

#3 Coraline- Neil Gaiman

Yeah, I didn’t like it the first time. Coraline, isn’t supposed to be a child’s book. At the very least, it wasn’t meant for me. I detested it. But now, thankfully, after 2 rereads, I can appreciate Neil Gaiman’s writing.

#4 Pippi Longstocking- Astrid Lindgren

I had actually forgotten I ever read this book? I still have no idea what it was about. The review does sound pretty cool tho. I love her name. #PippiAllTheWay

#5 Geronimo Stilton Little Women- Geronimo Stilton

Hey! I remember this book. It was the first I had ever read about Little Women. I loved the illustrations in this one, I even drew them down in this notepad I had. And I was super proud of them. Also Geronimo Stilton is just F-A-B.

#6 Dork Diaries : TV Star – Rachel Renee Russel

Righty, so I loved these books. I loved them till like grade 8? I actually own the last couple of books in the series. It’s actually pretty good for middle schoolers. Def recommended.

#7 Operation Bunny : The Fairy Detective Agency’s first case- Sally Gardner

I USED TO LOVE THIS BOOK. I ADORED THIS. THE CONCEPT. WOW.

#8 The curse of the jelly babies – Karen McCombie

Look how wonderful this review is. Like, much better than I expected for an 11 year old. Karen McCombie has always been a favourite author of mine.

#9 Angels Like Me – Karen McCombie

I do remember this book. It was a trilogy and really cool. I had my first attempt at a book photoshoot with this trilogy. I have no idea what is was about? But it was nice. Also this review is just….very bad. I think I was trying to say that it’s very relatable? **girls. Forgive me people, looks like 11 year old was also suffering from the typo syndrome.

#10 The Girl Who Rode The Wind – Stacy Gregg

I saved the best one for the last. I do not remember what exactly happened in this book. What I do know, is that it played a huge part in motivating me to read it more. This was the first book that brought tears to my eyes. I really do recommend it to all the people out there.

I would definitely recommend all, and I mean all except Coraline to all 7-13 year olds out there! Read it and let me know what you think!

And that’s a wrap! I’m actually quite happy with how this post turned out. I’m still in a blogger’s block…soo..you know…yeah. Anyway, tell me your thoughts about this post! Would you like a Pt 2?

Let’s prattle in the comments!

Ahh nice to see you’ve read all these wonderful books. Oh yeah, you totally should read Little Women and The Girl Who Rode The Wind. I’m sure you’ll like it.

  2. Ooh, i love geronimo stiltons! I used to think an actual person named Geronimo Stilton used to write them, lol. But I loved Thea Stilton books more, cause they were better for me, I guess?
And Dork Diaries is a series I tried reading, but I literally never could, I just couldn’t get the hang of them, somehow
Amazing post idea Sep! Sadly, I never really reviewed books until my blog, so well.

    1. Ahahahah I used to too, infact, until today. I mean THEY HAD A EHOLE PAGE ON ABOUT THE AUTHOR IN THE BACK. AND IT DESCRIBED GERONIMO. They deceived me 😭😭
I also loved Thea better. Those special editions with the gorgeous covers. And I guess five friends touring together is just amazing to imagine.

Ahh, happens. Dork diaries motivated me to write diary entries…so there’s a special bond there.

Thank you!! Oh. It’s an amazing feeling to read what I used to say years ago. If it wasn’t for those reviews, I probably wouldn’t be a blogger today.

      Thanks for reading Ridh!!

PS- sorry for the loooong reply, I have too many memories on this post 😂😂
