A letter (of sorts) to school

Dear School,

I miss you is an understatement. I yearn for you, every single day, every once a while and every second.

I miss those competitive competitions we had, when best friends from different houses would turn into enemies, if only for A day.

I miss the hustle and the bustle, of Monday.

We’d all be ruSty and lazy in getting up from the weekends.

I miss walking along that deserted road, which teemed with life and laugh exactly at 7:50am and 2pm.

I miss walking to and fro with my friends.

Joking about that one person who messed up the answers, yelling and gossiping over a new kid.

I miss secretly catching Furious glances in class, when even the teachers pretend that they didn’t notice.

I miss the havoc we created, when there was a delightful break between two classes.

I miss sneaking into my best friend’s class. Oh, the room next door. I miss stealthily washing my hands, even though I ate lunch late.

I miss reaching early and planning to do loads of homework, But then getting distracted by friends.

I miss the early morning fights, our regular ‘Tu meri seat pe kyu aayi’.

I miss convincing people, to bring up my bag, because I left it in the ground.

I miss taking the ramp instead of stairs, only to waste time, to reach class late.

I miss getting notes from favourite teachers, who let you skip the class you hate.

I miss the conclusive groaN, we do, when the electricity goes off in summers.

I miss going on my tippity toes, to write the whiteboard date numbers.

I miss changing seat arrangements to sit with friends, as soon the first class ends.

I miss those free periods, where we aim to study, but talk instead.

I miss those times in games, when illness became an excuse. I miss those workshops, which provided us relief from an exhausting day.

I miss our designated water filler, who would carry bottles galore, I miss our ‘dwarpal’ who would stand guard at the door.

I miss our scribe, who’s handwriting was showcased at PTMs, our monitors who always made the worst pretense.

I miss the ‘oho’ the ‘hat’ and the ‘pagal hai kya’.

I miss calling out ‘Good morning to one and all present here’.

I miss news of the day, I miss screwing up in the assembLy, in signature me way.

I miss the random acts of kindness, when we would be taken to the ground.

The random event of a spider or in the ventilator, a lizard being found!

I miss the inconspicuous phrases, which made us *some of us* turn red.

I miss those fights, those silly fights.

I miss the rainy dayS, when the corridor flooded.

I miss you school, and so do all others, although they might not admit.

We’ll never beg for holidays again, just pull us in your embrace.

And stay with us, for time indefinite.

Love,

A student who realised just how much she missed you. And that she should’ve been grateful when you existed.

I loved this Sep! This is so beautifully written and it brings back so many memories!🤧 This might as well make me anxious since I have only three years left to make many more memories in school and our dear COVID is not letting that happen.😑

I was never a bus person, my school is legit 5 mins walk away, so I always walked.

Assembly you say? I messed up so many times on the stage.
This one time I had to recite a poem in hindi, and I ate up two whole verses, and then Principal ma’am is like ‘What a beautiful poem’.😂😂😂😂😂

Awww thank you! Oh yeah, I miss all the above too : (. I miss aimlessly roaming around the corridors when it rains.

do you know, my friends and I used to reach school early, in rainy days. And then stand at this balcony like place, enjoying the wind. Then our Co-ordinator sir came and asked us what we were doing. We told him, and he’s like ‘Okay, continue, continue’. LOL.

  4. Dudeee……..
U practically listed the whole of our idiocities and fun we had…the fun we had when the classes didn’t start and then the teachers used to come and we used to scramble so fast that we could run a marathon easily.
Also the excuse of choir we took and roamed around the school so we wouldn’t have to go back to maths with Mr.Pankaj 😂 ( P.S.- I just had to add this laughing emoji in front of his name)
Not forgetting the time we used to tease each other with their crushes and all….
Then the library periods we had , just amazing 😭
Last but not the least the sort of co-ordination we had so we could look out for if the teacher was coming or not !!!
    Hm..good ol’ days , good ol’ days….
Then the list goes on and on and on and on and on……
Yrrr , I noticed it now locked up at my house that we used to all these thingssss !!! Hope we meet soon ughhhhhhhhhhhhh….

Also the hidden msg – I’M SORRY FOR BEING NOSTALGIC LOVE SEP…
